Millennia Designs Counted Cross Stitch: Abbott Handerson Thayer - Angel
Abbott Handerson Thayer (1849-1921), was born in America. He was an experimental artist, employing radical techniques in applying the paint to the canvas, and often leaving blank areas.
This counted cross stitch design is based on a detail from 'Angel' painted in 1887. The model for this work was his eldest daughter Mary, and was the first in a series of paintings of winged figures which he worked on during the illness of his wife, Kate, from tuberculosis. The original painting is on permanent display in the Musuem of American Art, Washington DC, America.
